Stars and Stripes Honor Flight
From Milwaukee to D.C.

Honor Flight Network is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America's veterans for all their sacrifices. They transport our heroes to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials. Top priority is given to the senior veterans - World War II survivors - along with those other veterans who may be terminally ill.

Of all the wars in recent memory, it was World War II that truly threatened our very existence as a nation - and as a culturally diverse, free society. Now, with over one thousand World War II veterans dying each day, our time to express our thanks to these brave men and women is running out.

During the early morning hours of November 3, 2012, two Delta 757 jets took off from the Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, bound for Dulles International Airport near Washington, D.C. On board were four Kirkpatricks:

PFC Donald L. Kirkpatrick, US Army, retired (age 88)

Lt. Robert B. Kirkpatrick, US Army Air Force, retired (age 94)

Cpt. Timothy R. Kirkpatrick, US Navy, retired (Bob’s son)

James D. Kirkpatrick, (Donald’s son)

Tim and Jim were official “guardians” on the flight and during the day in Washington, carefully watching over the safety of their fathers.

During the full day, over 250 WWII vets and their 250 guardians visited four memorials on or near the Capitol mall, including WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and the Marines. What a powerful and meaningful day for all who attended! In addition to an enthusiastic and thankful crowd waiting for the heroes at Dulles, an estimated enthusiastic crowd of over 7,000 was awaiting their return in Milwaukee.

Please click here to see a touching video slideshow of Don and Bob during this important trip.

This was billed for these vets as “one final mission.” Mission accomplished.

It was great to see the information about your Honor Flight trip to Washington. My Dad is a WWII veteran and served in Africa, Italy, France and Germany. He was able to take the trip a couple of years ago and I was his 'guardian.' What a wonderful experience for both of us.

Thank you all for your service!

Congratulations and thank you for your service to our country. My family is blessed to live in a land of the free because of the honor and service from you and all veterans and veterans families that have that have made that possible. May your family continued to be blessed.

Thank you for sharing your experience with Honor Flight Network. It is a wonderful tribute to our men & women in the military who have sacrificed so much!

A very SPECIAL heartfelt thanks to the Kirkpatrick men who served. Their families deserve a salute as well.

God bless you all.

Don

There really aren't enough words to express my gratitude to you for the service to our country. "Once a soldier, always a Soldier" I have heard so many times, after watching the video reminded me that there is no greater sacrifice than serving for Honor, Duty and Country. Since the Revolutionary War, every generation of my family has served, some could call it tradition, others could call it duty. If not for you're sacrifice and that of the other members of your family that have served, I would not be enjoying the life I have, thank-you. God Bless you and all of our servicemen and women that continue to serve today.

Kirkpatrick Partners is a provider of training evaluation and business partnership training, products, consulting and impact studies. Our work is based on the Kirkpatrick Evaluation Model created by Donald L. Kirkpatrick in 1954 as part of his PhD dissertation on the evaluation of the effectiveness of training for supervisors. It is expanded by the Kirkpatrick Business Partnership Model and Kirkpatrick Foundational Principles.

Instead of training ROI, we focus on training return on expectations (ROE). This is a more holistic measurement of all of the benefits realized from a program or initiative, both qualitative and quantitative. We offer courses and workshops on training evaluation and business partnership that equip training professionals to create, demonstrate and measure the business results and value their training yields or supports.

Donald (Don), James (Jim), and Wendy Kirkpatrick are pleased to be united as Kirkpatrick Partners. Whether you want to earn your Kirkpatrick certification or simply create more value in your organization, we are here to help. Our programs are valuable whether you are a corporate employee, member of government or an independent consultant.

The Kirkpatricks are the authors of nine books, including Evaluating Training Programs, Implementing the Four Levels, Transferring Learning to Results, Kirkpatrick Then and Now, Training on Trial, and The Brunei Window Washer: Bringing Business Partnership to Life.
